In 2019, Mr Eazi launched Choplife Studios (FKA emPawa Africa), an initiative to empower emerging African artists with funding, mentorship, and industry knowledge. Inspired by his own struggles as an independent artist, he wanted to bridge the gap between raw talent and global success by providing the support many lacked.
The initiative began with #emPawa100, a talent discovery campaign that received 10,000+ submissions from 14 countries. 100 artists were selected and funded with $3,000 each to produce their first music videos. The most promising talents participated in a three-week masterclass in South Africa, mentored by top industry figures like Diplo, Raye, E Kelly, and Guilty Beatz.
Among its early successes was Joeboy, whose hit "Baby" topped charts across Africa, proving the impact of Choplife Studios. Today, it has grown into a movement shaping the future of Afrobeats, amplifying African voices, and nurturing the continent’s next global stars.
